Snow measurement 9th of October 2011 +/- 9H00 local time @ Zwäckehütte: 55 cm

Snow measurement 9th of October 2011: 55 cm

Last sampling… part III

The catchment responds to the precipitation resulting in increased water level – discharge. During the event the air temperature went down from 20 deg C to 0 deg C resulting in an decrease in discharge and a shift to the winter state see pictures below.

Sampling in the snow

The snow depth increased from 1 cm in the valley to 35 in the upper parts of the catchment

Driving up with the mobility car + snow chains. Later on it the snow was to high to continue driving.

Aprox. 15 cm snow in the middle part of the catchment

Last sampling… Floodmark

After all samplers where activated for the last time this season, it started to rain in the evening and the intensity gradually increased. The water level for the Zwäckentobel went up from barely 1 cm to a maximum for Friday see flood mark in picture.

AT1, Zwäckentobel with flood mark from last Friday's event see the left behind stone. A water level difference of 40 cm

Last sampling...

We are already some days in the new hydrology year 2011/12 and the field season 2011 is almost finished. Today the ISCO samplers started for the last sampling campaign and after a +/- 2 weeks dry spell I am curious about the discharge and isotope results.
To prepare a bit for winter see picture with snow.

AT 19 with 3d time snow. Just a bit more and one can ski again
